Removing Lint from Your Clothes Dryer

Avoid Lint Buildup and Dryer Fires

Each year dryer fires cause thousands of dollars in damage and hundreds of injuries in the West Valley City area. Built-up lint is the cause for dryer fires which start near the motor. Fires will ignite in the exhaust pipe causing your home to catch fire.

Emptying the lint trap on every load is the best way to avoid a fire. You should also consider vacuuming behind the dryer every six months. Every year you should use a brush to “snake” the dryer exhaust.

Removing any lint buildup in and around the vent is the most important thing you can do to avoid a fire from the dryer. Lint around the heating element of the dryer can catch fire and cause serious damage to your home.

A good idea is to change out plastic venting with metal. The metal is more heat resistant and will last longer than the plastic vent over continual use.

If your home suffers from a fire don't hesitate to call the experts at SERVPRO of West Valley City.
