Storm Damages and what to know
Storm damages can can vary in type and severity depending upon the type of weather event that has occurred. Here in Utah we experience a variety of weather conditions ranging from micro burst wind events with no accompanying water that can cause structural damage and other property damages such as tree damage. These damages are generally covered by an appropriate insurance policy. Storms may be a combination of high wind and heavy rain that cause both wind and water damage and can become a little more difficult to determine insurance coverage for some or all of the damage. Some storms may simply be heavy rain that causes flooding that may penetrate your structure and cause damage. This often becomes the biggest challenge for insurance coverage and if the water penetrated your property after contacting the ground it is often not a covered event unless you happen to qualify for flood insurance and have an active policy covering such an event.
